Agency Remarc Hand Book
The Remarc Handbook is a comprehensive guide designed for animators, entertainers, and hospitality professionals working under the Remarc Agency. It aims to provide a structured approach to delivering top-notch entertainment services in hotels and resorts. The handbook outlines critical procedures, policies, and practical techniques to create memorable guest experiences while maintaining professionalism and adherence to safety standards.
What is Animation
The term “animation” has its origins in Latin, with the word animus meaning soul, spirit, and feelings. In the context of hospitality, hotel animation refers to creating an active and engaging experience for guests during their vacation. It involves providing entertainment and activities that enhance guests’ leisure time.
To animate means to inspire movement, uplift spirits, create a cheerful atmosphere, and provide opportunities for fun and memorable experiences. Hotel animation is about encouraging guests to participate in various sporting activities and evening programs, ensuring their holiday is both enjoyable and fulfilling.
As an Animator, You Should Not Think the Following:
“I am on holiday to have fun without any responsibilities.”
Animation is a job requiring commitment, not a vacation.
“Punctuality is not important.”
Being on time is crucial for maintaining professionalism and guest satisfaction.
“This work is simple, and there isn’t much to learn.”
Animation work requires continuous learning, creativity, and adaptability.
“I don’t need to show manners because no one knows me.”
Courtesy and respect are essential in creating a positive impression and fostering good relationships with guests and colleagues.

Expectations and Policies of the Hotel Animator
1. Professional Conduc
Always wear a smile and maintain a positive attitude.
Take the initiative to greet guests with a friendly “hello.”
Be punctual for all activities and schedules.
Maintain proper behavior and politeness toward hotel guests, staff, and colleagues.
Present yourself neatly and ensure your accommodation remains clean and tidy.
Do not enter guests’ rooms under any circumstances.
Avoid discussing personal or work-related problems with colleagues in front of guests.
Never criticize or speak negatively about the hotel or the agency in front of guests.
Building personal relationships with guests is strictly prohibited.
Do not invite guests to visit other hotels, discos, or bars.
Arrive at the meeting point 30 minutes before any scheduled show or event.
Actively promote and advertise the entertainment programs.
Activities should proceed even with a limited number of participants.
Treat all guests equally, without showing favoritism.
Do not spend your days off in the hotel.
Respect the team leader’s authority, as they make the final decisions.
Never tell guests, “We don’t have,” “We don’t know,” or “We can’t do it.”
Display confidence and empathy when interacting with both guests and colleagues.
Make a deliberate effort to appear friendly, enthusiastic, and approachable to guests.
Always be available to assist guests.
Avoid showing signs of fatigue or boredom in front of guests.
Plan activities thoroughly, and execute them with precision and timeliness.
Be mindful of alcohol consumption and avoid irresponsible behavior.
The use of illegal drugs or narcotics is strictly forbidden and will result in immediate dismissal.
Violent behavior of any kind will lead to termination of employment.
Smoking during activities or performances is unacceptable.
Avoid forming exclusive cliques in public areas or on hotel grounds.
Note that the agency is not liable for accidents involving motor vehicles.
Contact and Communication with Guests
Communication is the basis of modern civilization.
It is also the basis of a good relationship with the animation team and hotel guests. The animators have to be able to express themselves with a positive attitude and to listen with patience to all guests.
This is the steady basis for training and building the perfect
New Age Animator of Agency Remarc. When your personal responsibilities are finished this does not mean you can disappear from the hotel.
It must be quite clear that the animation work requires the animator’s presence for a prolonged length of time.Animation involves more than just the set program. We expect that after activities you should spend some time with guests, e.g. have a drink, or go for a meal.
Smile
Always start conversation in a pleasant and kind way.
Show true interest in the conversation.
Be a good listener.
Show to the others they are of importance.
Respect the opinion of the other and never say – you are wrong.
The best way to avoid conflict is to change the subject.
If you are wrong, admit it immediately.
Let the conversation be led by the other.
Show understanding for the wishes of the other.Of course, you should have a natural instinct to know when to wind down the conversation.
Appearance and Presentation of the Animator
The animators must always be aware that they represent the company.
It is essential that in any uneasy situation with the guests or with any colleagues, they will be expected to back down at all times. The first impression the guests have about the animation team will remain with them throughout their holiday.
Having a nice appearance for the job of animator, you can certainly win the guests over. This means having a smart and presentable appearance. We can assume that due to the hot climates in southern European countries, an over-emphasis on hygiene and cleanliness is imperative.
Learn to become a guest in a foreign country and you will be a good host.
You will not become very popular when you constantly state how much nicer, richer, how much more modern your home country is.
Do not participate in discussions on religion and politics.
Show interest in the country, the people, and their language.
Try to make friends with the locals. You may learn many interesting things that you can give to your guests. An open and honest person will always find appreciation.
Caution is a very valuable virtue, especially in a new country.
Humor and above all friendliness do not cost anything, and are essential for your work. With your behavior, you represent the hotel, the team, Agency Remarc, and especially your own nation.
If you want to be respected, respect the others.
Alcohol is an important factor for many holidaymakers. OK, they can do as they please – it is their holiday.
We do not demand abstinence from you, but you should know your limitations.
Behavior Expected from the Animator
Mainly because of unknowledgeable staff, it may occur that at the beginning of the season animation is not clearly understood, or even accepted.
Possible reasons for this are:
Animators usually have single rooms.
They do not have to wear special clothes.
They eat in the restaurant.
They earn more money.
They drink – without paying.
They sit in front of the bar.
They seem to have more rights and fun.
To remove jealousy, it should be clear to all animators that they are there to do the job at the same level as all of the staff.
(This does not include head of departments.)
Do Not Forget
Behave in a normal manner – not like a guest on holiday.
You will win the affection and the respect of all employees.A few helpful hints to avoid mistakes:
Say hello to everyone even if you think you do not know him or her.
Occasionally go to the staff canteen.
When you see that a barman is busy (even washing glasses) – be patient and polite.
Always give guests priority to be served first.
Yassou / Hola should be the most used word in your Greek / Spanish vocabulary towards staff. Yassou / Hola means hello.
Always try to be a helping hand towards staff in need.
As an animator, it is polite to return your empty glasses, etc.
Note that with friendliness you will make new friends and have a successful and happy summer season.
The Guests Are Free to Decide
The difference between animation and other offers at the holiday destination is in the profusion, and in the absolute free will of the participants in the animation activities.
The joy and creativity are the main energy sources to encourage hotel guests to participate in animation activities.
You will find success in your work by leaving all guests to their own personal decisions. Guests should participate spontaneously at their own will.
(A friendly invitation is always welcomed.)Never put any pressure on guests, and definitely do not use cheap persuasion.
We offer a program and enjoy seeing people participate. If you don’t have many participants one day, don’t feel angry or disappointed. Guests that are participating will realize this immediately AND MAY NEVER JOIN YOU AGAIN.
Meetings and Schedules
Before the daily program begins each day, you are expected to attend the team meeting to ensure all activities are covered and carried out in the correct manner.
There will be established a weekly meeting that you have to attend. On this meeting will be discussed everything concerning the team + daily programs and evening shows.
These meetings will also involve any other subject that may have to be discussed.Though animators are in an exposed position, the entire hotel staff are co-workers and colleagues.
Working Hours
Those who work in animation cannot count on an eight-hour day. The working times, as well as, particular working duties are specific for each hotel and précised by animation program established by the team leader and Manager of the hotel.
The animator should start with announcing and preparing his daily activities at least 15 min. before activities officially start. Meeting time for evening show is always at least 30 min. before the show officially starts, except if the team leader decides otherwise. Not coming 15 min. before the daily activities, or 30 min. before the evening show will be considered as being late to duties. It leads to the consequences explained in Chapter “Agency Regulation”.
Every animator has set tasks within the weekly program. This is only one part of the work. The most important task of the animator is PR with the guests. You can be an interlocutor, listener, or a host. These social contacts determine a main part of the work.
This is the time to invite the guests to beach parties, swimming competitions, barbecues, etc.
This is the time to create an atmosphere. The entire hotel staff and guests will recognize this.Hotel management does not recognize the time spent for practicing and improving of evening shows as official working time.
Animation Program Announcement
Information is a very important component of Animation. The most effective way of announcing daily and evening animation program is the information board.
For the new guest arriving, there may be prepared information leaflet about animation programs that are distributed in the rooms.
Possibility of improvised internal radio station or portable P.A. system.
Information at Breakfast and Dinnertime in the form of a flyer, consisting of daily or weekly animation activities and programs.
Every evening show will be announced with a variety of different posters.
There will be a different announcement board for the kids club.
Special sport and other happenings in the Hotel will be announced 2 days in advance with special posters and advertisements.
The most important announcements of the animation activities are, through direct personal contact and communication with the Hotel Guests.
Take into consideration that the concept of informing differs from hotel to hotel.
Your Personal Style of Working
Having a well-balanced relation with all hotel guests will make participation in different animation activities easier. To make participation and the rules of the games easier should be an important task of the animation team.
Try to find your personal style and keep it. Don’t try to copy colleagues or the team leader – it shows.
You are a very special, unique, outgoing personality.
Don’t be shy.
Show your positive attitude to everyone, with a smile on your face and joy in your heart.Organize your programs so that you have time enough in between to talk to guests, to drink something, or to prepare the next program in peace.
Take your job seriously, and you will be taken seriously.Show understanding, sympathy, and above all, that you love people.
Tips How to Be More Popular Among the Hotel Guests ,Colegues
Be Friendly.
It is hard not to like somebody who acts like a friend.
When you are with others, offer to be helpful, pay a compliment, smile, be outgoing. Take an interest in people.Take Pride in Your Appearance.
People are attracted to those who take pains with their appearance – not with a large, flashy wardrobe, but by dressing neatly and appropriately.Be Easy to Get Along With.
Do not be too temperamental and demanding. Let people feel they can relax around you. A temperamental person has to stop one day and say:
“I have been a pain and no one likes me. I am going to change. And the next time the choice of a meal or a movie comes up, he has to say to others – you choose.”Be Reliable.
Do not be late for appointments and don’t make people feel they are not important.
Always do what you tell them you are going to do.
Never repeat anything you are told in confidence.Don’t Be Envious.
Envy can consume and drain you emotionally.
If you continually have the attitude – “Why is this person more attractive, or why does this person have so many friends?” – you are going to be seen by others as mean-spirited. Count your own blessings.Do Not Be Too Proud.
A touch of humility is a good thing, but don’t overdo it, of course.Be Active.
The more you mix with people, the more opportunities you will have to meet and make new friends.Be Yourself.
Do not try to be someone you’re not and put “on airs.” If you want to expand your vocabulary, for example, that’s fine, but don’t start using words nobody will understand or you’ll just put people off.

Explanation About Sports, Games, Activities
In this part of the Handbook, there is information and an explanation about sports, games, activities, and Agency Remarc events that should be performed during Daily Animation in Holiday Resorts.
All sports, games, activities, and events for the Hotel guests should be done in complete accordance with the standards stipulated in Agency Remarc’s Company Policy.
In addition, the winners of sports, games, and activities organized during the day should get a diploma whenever they win. The guest who collects a certain number of diplomas (5 or 10) should get a prize, such as: CD, Hotel T-shirt, Water sports for free, Bottle of wine, etc. The presentation of daily winners and giving diplomas should be done on the stage straight after the Children’s evening program and before the main Evening Show. This concept gives additional motivation to our guests to participate in Daily Programs and Evening Shows. An explanation of the rules for specific Animation games, sports, activities, and events are given as most guests will be beginners at these activities.
The rules for Top sports, Water Top Sports, and Holiday Sports are well known and not specific only for Animation in Hotels. In view of this, these activities are listed below. All the rules of playing should be accepted as basic information about the way of playing that should be flexibly followed, modified, and improved according to the hotel facilities and the personal attitude of the game leader Animator.
Gymnastics
There are many different kinds of gymnastics and aerobics that can be performed as part of a Daily Animation program in the Hotel, such as: morning gym, water gym, keep fit, fat burning, morning stretching, aerobics, step aerobics, dancing aerobics, gym for couples, body sculpting, enorm-in-form, abdominal exercises etc.
The most sportive members of the Animation team, who already have knowledge and experience in this field of sport, always perform these activities.
Considering that there are only basic principles and goals that should be followed during gymnastics and aerobics classes are analyzed in this manual. Daily Animation programs always begin with a gymnastics class. This activity is the first one to influence the general opinion about Animation in the hotel. A successful Animation day should start with a successful gymnastics class.
The more the Hotel guests enjoy the gymnastics class, whether they were participants or spectators, the more likely they are to join other daily activities and evening shows. As for other Animation activities, the main goal of all gymnastics classes is to create a positive atmosphere, putting people in a good mood and giving them the possibility to have fun during participation and spectating.
To do gymnastics following professional rules of Fitness Centers, without considering the psychophysical structure of holiday makers can cause totally opposite effects, such as: bad mood, tiredness, muscle pain and injuries.
Gymnastics classes in Holiday Resorts are usually joined by people who normally don’t keep fit at home and who want to do it during the holiday, even if it’s for the first time in their life. Their expectations about being fit and in good shape are never high and they can be better described by a term of having fun. That’s why the intensity of a workout must be lower and the atmosphere more relaxed and entertaining compared to the classes in Fitness Centers.
In order to succeed, the next points should be followed:All Exercises
All exercises should be repeated 8 or fewer times × 8 times; count loudly respecting the music rhythm.
The percentage of participants who visit Fitness Centers on a regular basis at home is small and usually doesn’t exceed 15%. Therefore, these people can become bored and unsatisfied with the type and intensity of the exercising.
To avoid complaints, offer different kinds of aerobics in order for them to exercise more intensively. Although these classes don’t usually have many participants, they can be very successful as they attract many spectators.
Regarding the safety precautions for all kinds of aerobics, there are some necessary conditions that need to be established:
The floor for aerobics must be flat and soft (fine grass, carpet, artificial gymnastics floor etc.). Do not do aerobics on any stone tiled or marble floor or any other kind of flooring that is not soft and flat.
All participants must wear sports shoes.
Music for aerobics must consist of songs with good rhythm and approximately the same beat that are mixed between each other. This ensures the conditions of the exercise with a certain speed, without breaks and big changes of speed.
Choose the Area
Choose the most attractive and comfortable area for the class as possible: it should be the most central and frequent place in the area outside of the Hotel where people pass by and get attracted by the class. The place must be in shadow, whether the shadow is natural or improvised by sun umbrellas or likewise; it can be on the grass or around the pool where the floor is normally tiled with stone.
Mattresses for exercising on the floor are necessary. They can be bought or hand-made (cut different old sponges, or other soft materials that already exist in the hotel), in pieces that are approximately 1.5m long and 1m wide. In most hotels, there are no tools for workout, but small weights, wooden sticks, or different elastic bands can be hand-made by the hotel workshop.
Any gymnastics class is made much more attractive if there are workout tools available.
One Class
One class should last approximately 30–50 minutes.
It should consist of three parts: warming up, workout, and stretching.
Each part of the class should be followed by appropriate music:
Attractive and cheery music for warming up.
Faster rhythm music for workout.
Relaxing kind of music for stretching.
Considering that gymnastics beginners have no sense for not overdoing a workout, they easily get injured or suffer from muscle pain. Always remind people about the risks concerning muscle pain and injuries if they push themselves too hard while exercising. After the workout, don’t forget a thorough stretch program ensuring to do it very slowly and gently. This will help to prevent muscle injury and is excellent for all muscle relaxation.
There should be no breaks between exercises while taking the class. Exercises should follow each other continuously. Avoid long speeches while explaining what to do. The exercises should be shortly demonstrated and there is no time for a speech, except for short explanations such as: from the top to the bottom, inhale-exhale, to the right – to the left, stretch your body, relax, and now head, arms, shoulders, legs etc.
Games
Here is the explanation for funny games you’ve probably never played before, which are very popular among the hotel guests and useful for daily animation. These games are divided into three different categories: pool games, beach games, and coffee games. There are recommended places where these games should be performed, however, you may decide where is the most optimal area for the performance.
POOL GAMES
Spoon race:
This is a relay race and participants should swim or walk through the pool with a spoon in their mouth trying to keep the table tennis ball or any other kind of small ball of that size in the spoon. If the ball falls out of the spoon (while swimming or walking), a player has to put it back and continue swimming to the other side, and then to give his equipment to the next player.
Swimming with a T-shirt:
This is also a relay race. The first participant gets dressed in a T-shirt and has to swim to the other side of the pool, then the next player has to wear the same wet T-shirt and continue swimming.
Swimming with flippers:
The same game as the previous one but with flippers. The games number 2 and 3 can be combined.
Air mattresses (surf) race:
Also a relay race. There are two ways of playing this game:
a) The player that starts has to lie on a mattress and to “row” only with his hands and feet. When he comes to the other side, he comes off the mattress and another player jumps on it and continues.
b) The first player “swims” in the same way as we already mentioned above, but when he comes to the other side of the pool another participant sits on the mattress and they row together to the other side collecting another player and going back. The game can also be played with surfboards instead of air mattresses.
Diving & collecting items:
This game is played in teams or individually. Before the game starts animators have to throw different items (for example coins, spoons or diving weights) on the bottom of the pool. Each item brings certain points to the players. Players have to dive in and collect them. The winner is the team or player (if the game is played individually) that collects the most points.
Blind eyes collecting:
Animators throw different items in the pool, but ones that can float (cut out of cork or other floating materials, small balloons, table tennis balls, etc.) There are two teams and each of them has representatives in the water (1 or more). They have their eyes blindfolded by wearing the “blind snorkel” and stand in the pool next to the ring (hoola hoop). The rest of the team is out of the pool and they have to tell their representatives where the items are in order to collect them as quickly as possible. This game can also be played individually where the help for players comes from the audience.
BEACH GAMES
Spin the bottle:
Each player has to spin the bottle (bottle on side) exactly 10 times. If the participant turns it less or more than 10 times, then he will get certain negative points. The winner is the one who spins the bottle the required amount of times.
Tennis ball hockey race with broom end:
This game can be played one by one or a few players together. Participants have to push a tennis ball to the finish line. On their way to the finish line there are several obstacles such as bottles or beer cases. The aim is to have the best time when playing alone or to be the first one when playing together.
Bowling Billiards:
Each player has a broom and a tennis ball. The aim is to turn over as many pins (or cans) as possible in three hits. They play one after another.
Ring the bottle:
A bottle should be placed on any kind of stand a few meters in front of the player. Participants have the rings and they have to throw them on the bottle.
Fill up a cup with a sponge:
Each player has to fill up a bottle or some large kind of glass with water from the sponge, running to the sea and then back to the beach where his cup or glass is placed. The winner is the one who fills his cup up first. This game can be played with sand instead of water but the place where participants are allowed to take sand from with their hands should be an appropriate distance from the bottle.
Knock down cans:
Ten cans are placed in a pyramid on any kind of stand. Each player has to knock them down with three tennis balls, hitting one after another in a row. Cans have to be completely knocked down from the stand.
Beach ball (Paddle bat):
Very popular game for the beach that requires specific beach ball set – two or four beach ball rackets and a ball. The rules of the game are flexible. It can be played as an individual tournament or in couples.
8. Frisbee:
Also a very popular game played on the beach with or without goals. It can also be played in the sea.
9. Sack race:
Players have to wear big sacks and jump their way to the finish line.
10. Fins (flippers) race:
Players wear fins and must run to the finish line. There is also the possibility to race backward.
11. Three-legged race:
With a rope or string, tie one leg (around the ankles) of two players together, so each of them will have one leg free. They have to run to the finish line as quickly as possible using three legs. There are a few couples in the race.
12. Surfboard paddle race:
This can also be a pool game. Two players sit on a surfboard, each of them with a paddle, and they have to row to the finish line. There are a few teams, but this game can also be played individually.
13. Ball throwing:
Two players are in a circle position, and the others are in the center. The outer players throw a ball, trying to hit the legs of any player inside. The player in the center has to avoid being hit by the ball. If hit, he is out and joins the players in the circle. The winner is the one who is left in the center.
14. Egg throwing:
This game is played in couples. The couples must throw an egg back and forth to one another. Gradually, they move backward from each other, making the distance between them larger. The winning couple is the one that makes the longest distance from each other without dropping or breaking the egg.
15. Egg in spoon race wearing flippers:
This game is to be played individually or as a relay race. The players hold the spoon with the egg or some kind of small ball (ping-pong, etc.) and wear flippers. They race and try to hold the egg on the spoon. If they drop the egg out of the spoon and it breaks, the player must come back to the start line and take another egg. If the egg is not broken, the player is allowed to take the same egg, place it on the spoon, and continue with the race. Due to safety reasons, do not ask players to hold the spoon in their mouth.
16. Boot kicking competition:
Players wear a large-size boot and try to pass it as far as possible by kicking it with their leg.
17. Surfboard balance:
The aim of the game is to get as many people on the surfboard as possible without turning the board upside down.
Coffee (Bar) Games
1. Magic Bottle:
Fill a plastic Coca-Cola bottle with sand and roll it in tin foil. Place the bottle on any stand or table and put a table tennis ball or a cork on top of the bottle. Players have to flick that ball from the bottle while walking. Their arm has to be stretched out straight and held by the other hand. The game can also be played with one eye covered. There can be several tries.2. Tea Bag Throwing:
This game can be played with money coins or backgammon “chips.” Players have to throw tea bags as close as possible to the line that is previously marked. When throwing, they can also try to hit the other tea bags to get closer to the line.3. Black Jack (17 and 4):
This game is a combination of darts and the card game “Black Jack” and can be played in a few different ways. Make a board with playing cards lined up next to each other and stuck to the board. Each card holds certain points, just like in the card game.
In one round, players play one after another, and they have to hit cards with as many darts as they decide in order to reach a score of 21 points. If the player has, for example, 16 points, he may decide to stop playing or to continue to make his score closer to 21.
The score of 21 or “two aces” (22 points) is the best possible score. The score higher than 21 is the worst possible score. After reaching the best or the worst score, each player stops his play in that round.4. Ball Balance:
Bend a rope around any convenient pillar. Take both ends of the rope in your hands and put a table tennis ball on the rope, balancing it well so it cannot fall down. Under the rope, there should be a glass. The task is to put the ball into the glass. This can be done only if you open both parts of the rope at the same time. The same game can also be played with a big ball, bucket, and a thicker rope.5. American Roulette:
Take a big board and cut out numbers from a paper from 1 to 100. Stick the numbers on the board with sticking gum. Make another set of numbers and sell them to the players — 100 drachmas each.
When the game begins, all players, without moving from their seats and coming closer to the board, start calling the numbers at the same time as loud as possible. The animator takes off from the board every number that he hears being called. In order to win, players never call their own number and keep it in secret. The winner is the player who has the last number left on the board.6. Throw a Ring on the Stick:
Make a board with sticks, and in front of each one, put a number. Players have to throw rings on these sticks. The winner is the one with the highest score.
7. Formula 1:
Draw a chart with 10 columns and 6 lines on a board. In front of each line, put the name of the players. Players throw a big dice one after another. Put a cross on the board in the line for whatever number is shown on the dice. When a player gets, for example, three crosses in his line, he has to do some task (10 push-ups, swim from one side of the pool to the other, bring a stone from the beach, drink a beer with a straw, etc.) to continue the game.Beer Fest:
This is a German-style festival. The animator has a desk, microphone, and a jug of beer. He asks each guest who attends the activity to pick a piece of paper from the selection in front of him. The participant must then either act out the forfeit or answer the question on the paper, for example:To burst one balloon with his teeth.
To make one paper jet.
To imitate a dog.
To flirt with one woman walking on his knees.
To kiss 10 ladies/men.
To show the color of his/her underwear to the audience.
To show how to drink a beer without putting his nose in the jug (this is possible with a straw or with a head down from inside).
To burst a balloon belly to belly with one lady he has chosen.
To burst a balloon with his/her knees.
To answer a question – which country is the biggest beer-consuming capital (it is Germany).
Use your imagination and do not forget that each local beer company does beer promotions, giving away pencils, T-shirts, umbrellas, and some barrels of beer for free, but in this case, it can also be just a glass of beer. Consult your manager about which kind of prizes can be given to the guests that answered their question correctly or carried out their forfeit well!
8. Eating Spaghetti:
Players can eat spaghetti in many ways. The winner is the first one to finish his plate.9. Drinking Beer (Race):
Participants can drink beer in many positions and with or without a straw. The first one to finish is the winner.10. Catch Dropping Stick:
The animator holds a stick and unexpectedly drops it. Participants are supposed to catch a falling stick as many times as agreed.11. Throw Cards Into a Hat:
There is a set of playing cards on the table. Each player picks the first card from the pile, and without looking at the number, he tries to throw it into the hat. If successful, he may throw another one. If not, it is another player’s turn. The winner is the one with the highest score in a hat.12. Cocktail Demonstration:
This can be organized in many different ways. The barman presents the recipe for making some of his favorite cocktails. Participants have the opportunity to watch this, taste the drinks, and then purchase them if desired.13. Jack Pot:
Three animators are sitting around the table, representing a slot machine. One of them has his arm lifted. Each of them hides three different items under the table (three different kinds of fruits, for example). The player must pull the lifted arm, and instantly all three animators must put on the table in front of them one of three fruits (or three items). If all three animators put the same item in front of them, the player wins. The prizes for this can vary.
14. Nail, Hammer, and Board Competition:
There is a thick wooden board, and on this, there are many nails that are only very slightly stuck into the board. Every player gets three attempts at trying to stick the nail into the board fully by using the hammer.15. Upside-Down Darts:
Darts played backwards through open legs.
Activities
1. Pool Action:
All “action” consists of several different attractive pool games that should be carefully chosen and played in a team or on an individual basis. Preparation is a very important part of this activity, during which there should always be loud popular music and a very cheerful atmosphere. All necessary equipment for the pool action games should be brought and properly fixed before the activity starts. It is also important to have paper, pencil, and whistle. Ensure that you have a list of the games you are intending to play written down. Also ensure that you take details of all of the participants’ names.
2. Bingo:
Make copies of bingo cards and sell them before the game starts. There should also be a board with numbers written on it. When you call the number, every player that has that particular number on his card should crossit. The winner is the one who first fulfills all the numbers on his card. You can also play for the first and the last horizontal line. The first prize is money collected from card selling, and the line prizes can be ouzo or any other agreed drink. This activity should be performed in a comical way, including the calling of the numbers.
3. Music Quiz:
Before playing the music, you must categorize songs, e.g., name of the song, name of the singer, from which country a song comes, etc. If a participant thinks they know the answer, they must come as quickly as possible and sit on the chair in front of the animator. The first one seated may give their answer. For each correct answer, the players get a point and a short drink (ouzo). The winner is the one with the best score.
4. Quiz:
The same activity as the previous one but without music. In an additional part of this handbook, you can find possible questions for the quiz.
5. Horse Race:
This game is to be played with a big colorful dice (min. 40x40x40 cm) and six small horses (min. half a meter tall) that can be made out of wood. Horses race on any kind of tiled floor that resembles a chessboard. This must be six tiles wide, and in any hotel, since the floor around pools and bars are usually tiled and generally suitable for this game.
Each horse is decorated and marked with a different number from 1 to 6, and it can also have a funny name. Players bet for the first three places before the race, giving three numbers (or names) to the animator. The animator writes them down on a small piece of paper (“horse race list”) and sells it to the player for approximately 100 drs.
The horses are at the start position, each horse in his tile, and they have to pass as quickly as possible the path that consists of approximately 40-60 tiles. The finish line should be clearly marked and visible.
Two animators lead the game:
Animator 1: Moves the horses from tile to tile and counts the tiles.
Animator 2: Controls the dice and gives it to the players, who stand around the racing court (tiled floor), to throw the dice one by one.
To move any of the six horses forward, it is necessary to throw the dice twice.
First throw: Shows which of the six horses should be moved by the animator.
Second throw: Tells you how many tiles (steps) the horse chosen by the first throw should move.
The game lasts until the first three horses pass the finish line. The winner of the game is a player whose bet was the closest to the race result (combination of three numbers). The prize is money collected by selling the bets.
6. Olympic Games:
This is a special kind of activity to be held all day long. When organizing Olympic games, the daily program is postponed.
For organizing this, it is important to have Club Animation facilities available (loudspeakers around the area, etc.). Any sport, top sport, holiday sport, or successful daily activity can be a part of the Olympic games. Guests are divided into teams, and each team is led by one animator.
In the evening, the winners are to be presented and given their diplomas. The best way to do this is to organize a Beach Party.
8. Crazy Darts:
For each try and each number hit, players should do or get something. For example:
To do 10 press-ups.
To have a free drink.
To get a bull’s eye for free ice cream.
To be thrown into the pool.
To try to hit again.
To do 10 push-ups.
To go to the seaside and bring a stone, etc.
9. Auction:
Players play different coffee, pool, or beach games, and when they win, they earn money (fake money). Afterwards, you organize an auction with the items prepared in advance and sell them. With the earned fake money, the players can buy what you offer them. This is done the same way as in professionally organized auctions.
Crazy Golf:
For this game, the animator should make holes out of a wooden bench or a board of some other material. You also need a golf stick and three balls. You should put a board with holes a few meters in front of players and make a starting line from which the ball should be hit. Each player has three balls to play with.
First round (easiest round): The board is approximately 3 meters away from the player. It is important that players achieve more points than zero (you can choose your scoring system if preferred). If they don’t, they are eliminated.
Second round: Move the crazy golf board to approximately 6-8 meters distance from the player. The goal remains the same – make more points than zero. This makes it more difficult to succeed.
Every next pre-final eliminating round should be made more difficult and is achieved by moving the crazy golf board further away from the players, always increasing the distance in each round. The number of pre-final rounds is to be determined during the game and depends on the number of participants and how well they play.
Good players are not easy to eliminate and should play more pre-final rounds until there are only 5 players remaining for the final.
In finals, the board is moved back to the first-round position, and you start counting the points normally as they are written on the board (above the holes).
The winner is the one with the highest score. The prizes for the winners can vary. It can be the money collected from the selling of participation. To enter the game, each player has to pay approximately 100 drs. The rules can be adjusted.
